Building Demolition 1700 K Street (K Street & Connecticut Avenue NW) Washington, DC Wrecking Corporation was contracted to raze two 16-story reinforced-concrete towers of about 450,000 square feet of combined floor area. With an occupied office building 10 feet away on one side and an historic building attached to another side, the project presented many challenges. In order to raze these buildings and minimize dangers and disruptions in the high-traffic area, portions of the complex had to be taken down by hand at night in the dead of winter. The project was completed on a fast track schedule even though it was located on one of the busiest corners of Washington, DC.
