Building Demolition 1900 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC This was the site of the former PEPCO Building, which was razed to make way for the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund. Wrecking Corporation was asked to provide design and build services to raze this 12-story, 600,000 square-foot structure and to maintain the existing foundation walls that would be utilized in the new building. Post-tensioned concrete presents enormous challenges for demolition. After the successful demolition phase, all the concrete rubble was processed and bermed against the existing foundation walls for support and to facilitate new construction.
