Earthwork 1875 Penn Ave. NW Washington, DC This was a complicated hole to dig due to all of the different types of soil retention systems. There were soldier piles and tiebacks on two sides. Three tiers of rakers and wale beams were on another side, with underpinning pits, bracket piles and a few tangent piles. Wrecking Corp. also coordinated the removal of 70,000 cubic yards of earth. The entire project consisted of demolition of two buildings - 1815 and 1819 Pennsylvania Avenue - now the site of 1875 Pennsylvania Avenue.
